Construction Update: August 23, 2021

08.23.2021

As you may have noticed the HDD portion of our expedited work schedule is now complete as crews and equipment have been demobilized from drilling sites on Newport Avenue Extension.

As a reminder, the work that has been taking place on Newport Avenue Extension is only a portion of the construction planned for the North Quincy Cable Replacement Project. For more information on other areas of the project route click here. Please note that we do not expect to begin work on any other areas of the project route until 2022.

Please note that police details will continue to be present at our work sites to facilitate vehicle and pedestrian traffic management. We kindly ask drivers and those on foot to exercise caution when approaching these active work areas to minimize risks to personal safety, and to avoid any interference with construction.

Additionally, please know that we remain committed to prioritizing public health as well as the health of employees and contractors. National Grid has taken several steps to modify our business practices and daily operations to protect the communities in which we work. We have enacted additional policies and guidelines for our field and office personnel that are in line with the Commonwealth’s Guidelines and Procedures for construction as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines.
