Construction Update: June 2, 2021

06.02.2021

Here’s what to expect from the North Quincy Cable Replacement Project in the coming weeks.

Barring inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances, over the next two weeks you can expect to see continued work site set up and other construction activity at our work sites near the intersection of Newport Avenue Extension and Stratton Way, and within the parking lot of 100 Newport Avenue Extension. This construction activity is expected to include excavation, drilling, and manhole installation on Newport Avenue Extension, between Stratton Way and West Squantum Street – and within the parking lot of 100 Newport Avenue Extension.

We look forward to reporting on our progress and providing more information regarding work timelines for the above-mentioned activities in future updates.

*Over the next week neighbors can expect to see:

-Newport Avenue Extension (near West Squantum Street): Work site set up, excavation, drilling, and manhole installation.

-100 Newport Avenue Extension: Work site set up, excavation, drilling, and manhole installation.

Traffic Management Updates:

-Newport Avenue Extension (near West Squantum Street): Lane shift around work site; single lane northbound/southbound traffic.

-100 Newport Avenue Extension: No public-way construction; no traffic impacts expected.

Please note that police details will be present at our work sites to facilitate vehicle and pedestrian traffic management. We kindly ask drivers and those on foot to exercise caution when approaching these active work areas to minimize risks to personal safety, and to avoid any interference with construction.

As always, if you have questions about any of our current or upcoming work, please feel free to contact a member of our project outreach team by emailing us at info@northquincycableproject.com, or by calling our project hotline 1-800-358-3879.

Please know that we remain committed to prioritizing public health as well as the health of employees and contractors. National Grid has taken several steps to modify our business practices and daily operations to protect the communities in which we work. We have enacted additional policies and guidelines for our field and office personnel that are in line with the Commonwealth’s Guidelines and Procedures for construction as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines.
