Project Update: July 14, 2023
07.17.2023
Next week, you can expect to see continued construction activity at work sites on Furnace Brook Parkway, Southern Artery, Newport Avenue-Furnace Brook Parkway intersection, and within the North Quincy Substation. You may also notice intermittent work at various locations along the project route. Please note that contractors are utilizing Saturdays to extend the work week and expedite construction.
In addition to duct bank installation for the North Quincy Cable Project, National Grid Gas is also replacing existing gas mains and connections on Newport Avenue. This work is switching back to daytime work on Newport Avenue between Brook Street to Willow Avenue.
As always, we ask that drivers and pedestrians remain mindful of lane shifts, posted traffic signage, and the direction of police details stationed around these work zones.

Please know that construction is scheduled to minimize the impact on traffic and everyday life; sections of your street will likely only be impacted by the construction for weeks—not years. That said, we understand that construction doesn’t always feel “short-term” when it’s in front of your home or business. As work begins in your area, we will continue to work to mitigate inconveniences that come up to the greatest extent feasible. Please let us know about upcoming deliveries, schedules, and events that could be impacted by work.
