Project Update: June 10, 2022

06.10.2022

Next week our crews will shift our work zone south on Newport Avenue and begin excavating for the next two manhole installations between N. Central Avenue and Elmwood Avenue. For at least the next two weeks, excavation and manhole installation will be ongoing at this work site.

Additionally, starting the week of June 20, you can expect to see construction resume on Newport Avenue between W. Squantum Road and Holbrook Road as crews being to excavate and install duct bank between recently installed manholes.

As always, for a closer look at this section of the project route, click here to view our online map.

As was the case with our last two manhole installation, traffic will be maintained in both directions during the vast majority of this work. That said – on Thursday, June 16 between 9:30AM and 1:00PM – when manholes are being lowered into excavations, Newport Avenue traffic will be detoured. We ask that drivers and pedestrians be mindful of lane shifts, posted traffic signage, and the direction of police details stationed around the work zone. Week of June 13: Construction Activity

Week of June 20: Construction Activity

  • Excavation and duct bank installation on Newport Avenue between W. Squantum Road and Holbrook Road

Please know that construction is scheduled to minimize the impact on traffic and everyday life; sections of your street will likely only be impacted by the construction for weeks—not years. That said, we understand that construction doesn’t always feel “short-term” when it’s in front of your home or business. As work begins in your area, we will continue to work to mitigate inconveniences that come up to the greatest extent feasible. Please let us know about upcoming deliveries, schedules, and events that could be impacted by work.
