Project Update: June 24, 2022

06.24.2022

Next week construction continues at one work site on Newport Avenue. On Newport Avenue, between Lincoln Avenue and Warren Avenue, one crew will begin excavation for a manhole installation planned for Wednesday, June 29. For a closer look at this section of the project route, please click here.

Please note that traffic will be maintained in both directions during the vast majority of the manhole installation process. That said – on Wednesday, June 29 (approximately) between 9:30AM and 1:00PM – when manholes are being lowered into excavations, Newport Avenue (between Lincoln Avenue and Warren Avenue) traffic will be detoured.

We ask that drivers and pedestrians be mindful of lane shifts, posted traffic signage, and the direction of police details stationed around the work zone. For more detail on this short-term manhole installation traffic management plan, please click here.

Week of June 27: Construction Activity

  • Excavation and manhole installation on Newport Avenue (between Lincoln Avenue and Warren Avenue)

Week of July 4: Construction Activity

  • No construction on July 4
  • Excavation and handhole installation on Newport Avenue (between Holbrook Road and Wilson Avenue)

Please know that construction is scheduled to minimize the impact on traffic and everyday life; sections of your street will likely only be impacted by the construction for weeks—not years. That said, we understand that construction doesn’t always feel “short-term” when it’s in front of your home or business. As work begins in your area, we will continue to work to mitigate inconveniences that come up to the greatest extent feasible. Please let us know about upcoming deliveries, schedules, and events that could be impacted by work.
