Project Update: March 31, 2023

03.31.2023

Next week, barring inclement weather, you can expect to see continued excavation and duct bank installation at our work sites on Furnace Brook Parkway, Morrison Street and Newport Avenue.

In addition to duct bank installation for the North Quincy Cable Project, National Grid Gas will also be replacing existing gas mains and connections between 259 and 529 Newport Avenue as well as 3 and 19 Newport Terrace. On Monday, April 3 this work will begin as night work on Newport Avenue between Brook Street and Beale Street. Following weeks of night work will be between 7:00PM and 5:00AM, Sunday through Thursday. As this work progresses we look forward to providing more information.

As always, we ask that drivers and pedestrians remain mindful of lane shifts, posted traffic signage, and the direction of police details stationed around these work zones.

Please know that construction is scheduled to minimize the impact on traffic and everyday life; sections of your street will likely only be impacted by the construction for weeks—not years. That said, we understand that construction doesn’t always feel “short-term” when it’s in front of your home or business. As work begins in your area, we will continue to work to mitigate inconveniences that come up to the greatest extent feasible. Please let us know about upcoming deliveries, schedules, and events that could be impacted by work.

Thank you,
