Project Update: September 15, 2023

09.15.2023

Next week can expect to see continued construction activity at work sites on

Furnace Brook Parkway, Southern Artery, and Newport Avenue. You may also

notice intermittent work at various locations along the project route. Please

note that contractors are utilizing nights and Saturdays to extend the work

week and expedite construction.

National Grid Gas’ work to replace existing mains along Newport Avenue as

has paused for approximately two weeks. When work resumes, you can expect

to see activity between 541 and 627 Newport Avenue.

As always, we ask that drivers and pedestrians remain mindful of lane shifts,

posted traffic signage, and the direction of police details stationed around

these work zones.

Please know that construction is scheduled to minimize the impact on traffic and

everyday life; sections of your street will likely only be impacted by the construction for

weeks—not years. That said, we understand that construction doesn’t always feel

“short-term” when it’s in front of your home or business. As work begins in your area, we

will continue to work to mitigate inconveniences that come up to the greatest extent

feasible. Please let us know about upcoming deliveries, schedules, and events that

could be impacted by work.
